The newest dessert trend to hit Winston-Salem is frozen yogurt. A few weeks ago I got to experienced this delectable treat. This new trend of frozen yogurt shops offers about 20 different yogurt flavors. The challenge is to not get full while sampling the various flavors of the week. Oh yes, they change the flavors available from week to week. My previous experience with frozen yogurt was self-serve at summer camp as a child. Although good memories, this experience was nothing similar. Think - hot date night/girls night out/family outing! Kind of like the movie theater, great for a variety of occasions. You walk in and decide on a container size, sample and choose a flavor, then approach the toppings section!! Now this is where I lacked guidance my first visit. Imagine everything you can possibly put on ice cream or yogurt; they have it. Fruit, nuts, candy, chocolate, carmel. I wanted it all. First, I eyed the kiwi slices (I LOVE kiwi), then the strawberries, then the pineapple, and my bowl was getting full. However, I had not even approached the candy or chocolate. I managed to add a few goodies to the bowl before taking it to the counter for the weigh in! FYI: The price is based on weight. I like this because it gives you further incentive to limit your portion. Now I am not getting any sponsorship or rewards for endorsing this new, fun product. I simply found a fun, healthy way to enjoy desserts that is trendy and available here in Winston-Salem. This tasty treat will cost you anywhere from 80-140 Calories for 4 oz of yogurt plus whatever toppings you choose to add. This can be a healthy, fun way to get your fruit and dairy servings without a huge calorie cost. Maybe I will see you there :)
