I'm obsessed! Totally head over heals and crazy in love...with peaches. My sweet husband purchased a few peaches for me as a random surprise last weekend from the farmer's market by his work. One bite, that is all it took. All I want is peaches. I would stop eating all other foods and just eat peaches if I could. They are sweet and juicy and heavenly - you definitely need to try one and don't wait because they go out of season in what seams like an instant. Today, I am going to talk about everything peachy!
Now a fresh, ripe peach wins, top choice for any day and every occasion. But, I also like to use peaches to accessorize. On a smoking hot summer day like today, PEACH SORBET sounds heavenly.
Or how about PEACH ICED TEA with lunch?
If you are looking for the perfect afternoon snack, try whole grain tortilla chips with PEACH SALSA.
Don't let this season pass you by. Allow yourself to fall in love this summer with peaches. Just peachy.
I want to know how you like to accessorize your food with peaches. Leave us your ideas!
Lung disease causes difficulty breathing. Now, I am a rather calm person and not much makes me panic; however, not being able to breathe will make me panic. A huge wave that holds you under water longer than anticipated is a scary feeling or being upside down in a kayak trying to let yourself out and it does not come lose right away makes me afraid. People with lung disease reach a point where they will feel like they are gasping for breathe for the rest of their life. Now most lung disease has traditionally been caused by smoking. Smoking damages the lung walls losing elasticity. This makes it difficult to push air out of the lungs and allows carbon dioxide to build up in the body. You may know this disease as emphysema or COPD - obstructive lung disease. This is one of many reasons you should not smoke.
But, this is not the only type of lung disease. As you probably noticed, people are getting fatter all over the world. Excess body fat causes all sorts of medical problems, but did you know it can cause lung disease?! Yes, different than obstruction caused by smoking, being overweight can cause RESTRICTED lung disease. If someone is overweight, they are less likely to exercise and remain in good physical condition. Breathing requires muscle strength and the more fat a body carries the more difficult it is to breathe. Also, those with excess fat have less muscle mass and anywhere from 50 to 70 years old will find themselves short of breathe. To take a deep breathe, you need to expand your lungs to allow them to fill. A heavy, large person loses the ability to fully expand their lungs and therefore they develop a restricted lung disease simply due to their physical conditioning. The good news is that unlike obstructed disease which does not have a cure, restricted lung disease can be cured simply by losing weight and increasing physical strength.
Don't weight until you are panicking because you cannot catch your breathe. Get your body fit and make good food choices today. Let a large ocean wave be the only thing to take your breathe away!
